![]() Thank you all for the help, I hope it can be useful to someone else in the future. I have another problem with the pedals, but I think it's a separate issue so I'll create another topic for it. Unfortunately, I foolishly forgot to put a bigger heat-shrink sleeve before joining all the cables together, so I finished the job with the insulating tape (it looks really bad i know, but it works). Don't forget bent and ruined connectors and wrecked cables. This design mitigates the age old 'tripped on the controller cable yanked my NES off the entertainment center' conundrum. Here is a picture of the still unfinished work (sorry for the picture quality): It's so that the controller becomes unplugged at the breakaway point when the cable is pulled a little, rather than yanking on your console or controller. ![]() Unfortunately I do not have a soldering iron at home so I could not solder the cables together (it would have been the best method i guess), but I solved it anyway: I braided the cables very tightly together, and then I tightened them further thanks to a heat shrink sleeve applied before joining the cables. Reconnect the 4 cables was not difficult at all also because they are colored, so I had no problem to recognize and reapply the cables together. Luckily inside the rubber of the usb cable there are only 4 wires and not 8-9 like most modern usb cables, otherwise it would have been even more difficult. I finally solved it by cutting both ends of the breakaway connector off of the cable and reconnecting the two remaining new ends together again, as if the breakaway never existed. ![]() Thank you all very much, I can't wait because I really want to use it too much! If the problem instead is the cable only, I would prefer to repair it cause the seller gave me a lot of 3DRAP mods. USB BREAKAWAY CABLE FOR XBOX 360 WIRED CONTROLLERS Fosmon’s USB breakaway cable is designed to a great replacement cable for connecting your Xbox 360 wired controllers to your gaming console. Is this normal? Shouldn't the steering wheel turn once or twice? The answer to this question is very important because, if it should have done so even only connected to the socket, then the problem is not only the usb cable but it is really broken, in which case I would send it back to the buyer. Lastly I have one last question, as soon as I plug the steering wheel to the power source nothing happens. This breakaway cable is compatible with Xbox 360 Rock Band- and Guitar Hero-wired guitars or drums, Dance Pads, and any other gaming peripheral that utilizes a breakaway connection. I was wondering then, once the black cable is uncovered, will the colors of the internal cables match the replacement ones? If not, I wouldn't know which cable goes with which cable. Avoid real-world calamity with a breakaway cable or two. On the net I found this cable you can see in the link below, do you think if I cut away the old heads both male and female and replace them with these it would work? Or can I make it directly usb without needing breakway in between? In that case I would also avoid the expense of the replacement cable. In fact once connected to the pc, windows 10 doesn't make any sound and Logitech G Hub doesn't recognize it (it doesn't appear at all in devices list). You will sand for about 1 milimeter on both sides (as marked on the picture), and you should sand until it fits on the controller.I bought a used Logitech G920 just today, complete with shifter, but I noticed that it arrived with the breakaway cable (both male and female portions) completely destroyed. ![]() So, how to do it and what you will need: * a little scissor or something similar * the xbox 360 USB Breakaway Cable ( less than 3 dolars on ebay, doesn't need to be original!) How to do it: After your breakaway 360 cable arrive, you will notice that the breakaway cable IS VERY SIMILAR to the original xbox controller breakaway cable, and just need a little removing/sanding on the plastic side borders (I did it with a little serrated scissor, but a normal scissor can do it too). BUT, here is the great news: this time you WILL NOT NEED SOLDERING! The final result will be very clean, look very well made, and your controller will not be open/modified. Like many others, this is a guide to put an USB tip on that good controller, so you can use on your pc/notebook. Hi! The original xbox controller is very well made, and it has a usb 1.1 tip, but with the shape to work only with the xbox console.
